Maybe you put a big emphasis on luxury, ambience or location when you choose your holiday accommodation. And why shouldn’t you? Going on vacation is often the reward you look forward to after all your hard work, so you naturally want to be comfortable. Here are some of our favourites in New Zealand.

Luxury – Kauri Cliffs Lodge

A luxury lodge at the internationally acclaimed golf course of the same name sits on a cliff-top in subtropical Northland near the northern tip of the North Island. The main lodge overlooks the spectacular Cavalli Islands and incorporates the beautifully appointed living room, a spacious and comfortable meeting/TV room, a card room, and a small computer room.

As well as the world class golf course, as a guest of Kauri Cliffs you will enjoy a range of leisure facilities including:

  • Two Astro Turf tennis courts
  • Beautiful full service day spa set in our native Totara forest
  • Fitness centre with an indoor lap pool and jacuzzi
  • Stunning infinity swimming pool
  •  Private à la carte dining is available in the main dining room or on the verandah overlooking the South Pacific Ocean.
  • Gourmet picnics can be arranged and enjoyed around the expansive grounds.

Kauri Cliffs also has three private swimming beaches, including the famed Pink Beach where regular barbecues are held in the summer months. Mountain bikes, guided nature walks, fishing and horse riding are all popular activities on the property.

Ambience – The Crown Hotel

Boutique accommodation in a picturesque seaside setting in the Hawkes Bay city of Napier. The original Crown Hotel opened for business in 1859 on the corner of Waghorne & Barry Street.  It was destroyed by fire in the 1931 earthquake while the new hotel was being built. The building was to be three levels but was reduced to two levels due to the earthquake's damage.  Heritage suites located in the original 1932 Crown Hotel Building, have been lovingly restored to reflect the history and opulent style of the Art Deco era. we support local Hawke's Bay products and suppliers

5 Reasons to Love Golfing in New Zealand

Posted by Di Houghton on June 01, 2016

New Zealand is famous for its spectacular scenery. On the North Island, golf amongst emerald-green rolling hills overlooking sparkling blue waters, edged by dramatic black sand beaches. Tiny islands, wildlife sanctuaries and volcanic cliffs surround you. The South Island is a jewel, featuring snow-capped mountains over crystal-clear turquoise and violet lakes. Fill your sight with natural, unspoiled beauty as you enjoy golfing luxurious courses.

New Zealand has a long history with golfing. Immigrants from Scotland introduced golf to the country in the 1870’s, and the first national championship was played in 1893. British Open champion Sir Bob Charles and more recently Michael Campbell's win at the US Open in 2005 put New Zealand firmly in the modern golf spotlight. Golfing greats have experienced the fairways of New Zealand and publicly praised the unique beauty and quality of our courses.

Fewer crowds

With a population of less than 4 million, New Zealand has a course for every 10,000 people. Except for the larger city clubs, it's possible to walk onto many golf courses and play without booking in advance. Breathe, relax and enjoy golfing without crowds associated with many other destinations.

Unlike many northern hemisphere countries, golf is played all year round in New Zealand. The major club competition season runs from March to November to coincide with peak times of grass growth. Hard and dry conditions during hot summer months can see golfers hitting career best drives of over 300 yards! These courses are at their “best” during spring and early summer, but every season has its benefits.

After a perfect day golfing, New Zealand offers a wide variety of activities for you to relax and unwind. From spa services to world-class wineries, you can enjoy internationally acclaimed flavours of refreshing local wine. Specialists can guide you through the experience for the ultimate pairing.
